OSoMe - Observatory on Social Media

Private API

OSoMe (pronouced awe•some) allows you to submit queries to our massive social media database. Given a set of Twitter hashtags and a time period, we can count the number of matching tweets, generate a time series, count the number of tweets from each user, or just list matching Tweet IDs. One can subsequently utilize Twitter's REST API to retrieve more information about tweets or users of interest.

  • OSoMe (formerly Truthy) API returns!

    published 3 years ago

Today we released a new version of our API allowing search over our large historical collection of (70 billion) public Twitter tweets. In addition to this Mashape API, we have several visualization tools available at osome.iuni.iu.edu and described in a preprint (https://peerj.com/preprints/2008/). We took our original API offline more than two years ago, so we hope our former users will check out what we currently have to offer.

I'll also take this opportunity to mention that another one of our services, BotOrNot, also has HTTP and Python APIs available. We may add a Mashape interface to BoN in the future.

Thanks and happy hacking, Clayton A Davis

  • Truthy API shutting down for infrastructure overhaul

    published 4 years ago

    Dearest Truthy API Users,

We apologize for our API and database falling a bit into disrepair, but we've been hard at work designing Truthy: The Next Generation (name subject to change). Our new hardware is here, so we are taking the step of disabling this API while we migrate over to the new software/hardware. A definitive timeline is hard to provide, but we're aiming for a November 2014 release of the upgraded Truthy.

Stay tuned until then; we have several exciting infrastructure improvements that will enable the next version of this API to truly kick butt.
